Consulting

I offer structured consulting for families and individuals navigating conflict, estrangement, and complex relational decisions. This work is intentional, time-limited, and designed to bring clarity and direction to situations that feel emotionally overwhelming or stuck.

Consulting is not psychotherapy. It is a strategic, systems-oriented process focused on understanding patterns, reducing escalation, and supporting thoughtful decision-making.

What past clients say...

Working with Rachel is wonderful! Although, it wasn't always a pleasant process, the results speak for themselves. My mom and I were seeking consulting to increase health, decrease dysfunction, and increase closeness in our relationship. We both had a deep desire to be close but had major things that were serving as road blocks in our relationship, keeping us a combination of distant and enmeshed rather than separate but connected. Rachel gracefully listened, educated, and pointed out things that needed to change in our relationship. She was kind and compassionate, and also direct and firm about what is needed to have a healthy relationship. This directness and direction is something I feel is very much lacking in the mental and emotional health conversation at large. More people could use some directness and direction as opposed to tip-toeing around someone's feelings and just passively agreeing and validating them. Feeling that you're valued and respected in a conversation is important, but that's the same thing as validating things that are unhealthy. Some sessions weren't pretty or fun but eventually there was breakthrough and I am so incredibly grateful to Rachel to sticking it out with us and not giving up on us."

Individual Consulting Session

75 minutes

What this is:
A focused, one-time consultation designed to help you think clearly about a specific relational situation. This session is not a simple “check-in” or processing hour — it is a structured conversation aimed at insight, perspective, and next steps.

What this often looks like:

  • clarifying what is actually happening in the family system

  • identifying patterns that may be escalating conflict or distance

  • sorting out what is (and is not) within your control

  • discussing realistic options moving forward

  • determining whether further consulting would be helpful

This option is best for people who:

  • want clarity around a specific situation

  • are deciding how to respond to conflict or estrangement

  • are unsure whether deeper family consulting is needed

  • want a thoughtful, contained conversation rather than ongoing therapy

What to expect:
You should leave this session with a clearer understanding of the dynamics at play and a more grounded sense of how to move forward. Some situations are appropriately addressed in a single consult; others reveal the need for more structured family work.

Extended Consulting

Some family situations require additional time, support, or follow-up beyond the initial package.

Extended consulting may include:

  • additional individual or joint sessions

  • follow-up support after a family meeting

  • continued guidance around implementation or decision-making

Extended work is offered selectively and discussed collaboratively based on need and fit.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR CONSULTING (IMPORTANT)

This work is most effective when clients come prepared and engaged.

Before beginning consulting, I ask that individuals and families:

  • reflect honestly on their own role in the system

  • be willing to consider perspectives beyond their own

  • come prepared to listen as well as speak

  • understand that clarity and accountability are part of the process

A NOTE ON FIT

Not every situation is appropriate for consulting, and not every family is ready for this kind of work. In some cases, therapy, group programs, or no immediate intervention may be the better next step.

If you’re unsure which option is the best fit, you’re welcome to share a brief overview of what’s happening, and I can help you determine whether consulting is appropriate.
